5:13 is the lowest fro a 14 bolt. Get a D60 or 70 if you want lower, or get a doubler

Get a D60 rearend. Then you can go all the way into the 7.__ range if you wish. This is assuming you have a D60 frontend.

yeppers, 5.13 is it... of course, why go lower? If you need a better crawl ratio, ya could always run some kinda doubler or other trick t-case/tranny combo....

dam, i wanted 38's-40's but i also want it geared DEEP! especially with the weight of one ton axles and big meats with steel wheels. the deeper the better.

get some 2.5t rockwells... 6.92 gears is all you can get! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

in all seriousness tho, I think 5.13s would be great for the size tires you wanna run. If they won't do what you need, you prolly do need more engine, or better reduction in the tranny/tcase. Of course its your rig.... if you wanna run 7.17s, its fine with me. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

for all the work youd be better off with a new tranny o t-case, cause youll get better ratios anyway and itll probably cost less.

I run 39's and 5.13s and they seem deep enough for me.

I wouldn't wanna run lower than 5.13's anyway. When you go that low your pinion gets really tiny which makes it weaker.

Just spend the money on the doubler, then you'll have plenty of low gear. And Dana 60's may have low low gears, but like said before, pinion is much weaker.

I agree, a even a Dana 60 with gears much lower than the 5ish range the pinion gets pretty small.

There is only a 5% difference between the two ratio's. You'd be hard pressed to notice that on the trail. On the highway it would only be 130 RPM difference at 60 MPH...

5.13's do a great job in my truck. i have more than enough low end with 39's and a 305. i have never needed more low end than that, and would be scared if i did. granted that i don't do much rock crawiling, but it is enough for the occasional tree stump and boulder, massive sand or clay hill, or a friends 38.5. i think that you will be super happy with the crawl ratio of the 5.13's with your 39's. it seems like i am only going 5mph in 4 low with the tach at 5000rpm. LOL

LOL the 5.13's in my truck put me at 10mph over what i am actually doing, ie, 60mph on the gauge when i am actually doing 50, plus it keeps the gas milage at aroung 6-8MPG, right where i like it!!!LOL
