it's hard to compare US wages to Swedish,,,i have Friends in Long island New York (Americans! Not Swedes), and we have discussed this a couple of times.
But i think the minimum wage / hour is about 10$

depends on the area and the job in that area.
min wage in AZ is 5.15 unless you work for tips as well. then its like 3 something

min wage in oregon is 6.50 or 7 dollars BUT they tax the ever living hel! out of your pay check.

The federal minimum is a national deal ($5.15/hr) some states however have set a higher minimum basically at the expense of driving away jobs to other states with the lower federal minimum. Some service jobs (like pumping gas in OR) cant be done from another state though.

But employers still have to meet the Federal Minimum no matter what the state says. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif

Think of it this way. If they pay the federal minimum then they still comply with the lower state minimum... States with a higher min, say $7.50/hr still meet the fed. min. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
