    52\" military tires on D60 & 14B

Anyone out there running 52" Goodyear tires on Dana 60 & 14bolt axles. I have detroit in rear & ARB in front with 35 spline stubs. 4.56 gears - probably to fast. Will they hold up?

4.56gears? you'll be needing some 5.13's for that much meat

52" tires are some heavy mo-fos. A d60 might be able to handle it... but if it was me I'd run some beefy ujoints (CTMs or Ox or whatever) and maybe even some after market chrome-moly shafts (warn prolly makes em for the d60). Then just hope your ring gear doesnt explode...

i think the most sane option would be to swap in 2.5t axles if you really wanna run 52s.

I second the Rockwell 2.5 ton axle. They have the diff bottoms out now that actually give more ground clearance than a D60.

the 4.56's won't work and 5.13's won't do much good either.

rockwells or 404's would be able to help offset that kind of tire.

    Rockwells (6.72) would = ~2880 RPM's at 65 MPH
    404's (7.56, IIRC) = ~3100 RPM's at 65 MPH\

not sure why you would drive it on the street, but there are the numbers.

It would also take a crap load of reduction to get those to spin effectively.

Ox is no longer in business.
Warn doesn't make shafts for a D60. Only CTM and Sandy Cone. There might be others, but they are probably not as quality.

No way in hell a D60 and 14 bolt would stand up to a 330 lb. tire/wheel combo, unless you are stepping up from two 10 bolts and 44's. If you are, you need to let me in on your secret to making a shitty drivetrian live under huge tires. Several people have broke rockwells with the 53's. Rockwell shafts are only 1.61" in diameter. 35 Spline D60 stuff is 1.5". You do the math.
