Gas is a bargain right now. Gas prices have not kept up with inflation. I read some where that the US is spoiled with low fuel prices. 3+ dollars a gal is where the price should be according to national inflation numbers... We've been getting major slack for a long time now.

chiat, i added $40 in gas to my tiny little 4 cyl ford ranger and DIDN'T fill it up. I honestly didn't have the heart to go above 40... just couldn't do it.

i see 5-speed geo metros on craisglist ALL the time for under $1k... I am seriously thinking about selling my '94 ranger and using the $ to get a metro and a work/tow rig. There is an awesome 390-equipped 70s ford I can get for $1,000... and the metro is like $800. Can you say, 'awesome gas milage AND a tow rig?!" :)

It cost me $60 today at the pump and it still wasn't full. They won't let you pump more than $60 on a card.

YEP! 2.27 most places in Indy, I've found a few places thats still 2.11 and 2.04 but my 16gal tank took 34$ to fill :yikes: :doah: :shame: :dunno:   :(

I guess the 2000 blazer getting 17-18MPG is not to bad, other than the brake light is flashing... I think its an electrical issue the brakes still feel good and when I hit a large speed bump all the lights on the dash came on then went off, then about 3-4 minutes later the brake light started flashing again... :dunno:
Once the blazer gets regeared and exhausted I'm hoping for 13-14MPG out of it. These new little desiel cars are looking better and better.... :ignore:

    not TOO bad here--YET..

I filled my "Contour" with gas wednesday for 1.99 a gallon, its been over $2 a gallon in recent weeks--still took $25 to fill it,(12 gallons!)and it still had about a 1/4 of a tank! :frown1: --it seems to be decent on gas,I'd guess about 20-25mpg,so thats a lot further than any of my trucks would go on a gallon...even the Diesel isnt a bargain anymore--its 2.30+a gallon for diesel here, and still climbing!--

Looks like my trucks will be sitting with dead batteries from lack of use this summer--I might sell at least one of them,I cant afford to keep them all insured, registered, and inspected at todays fuel prices...especially with no job--I barely have enough cash in the bank to pay my car insurance for the year--then I'm destitute! :blush:No sense in keeping them period,or on the road, if I cant afford gas to drive them!

The only good side to this is those of us who can afford the gas,is that many fullsize trucks and SUV's will get "dumped" for low prices,so the former owners can go buy an econobox...I got several fullsize GM trucks in the late 73's during the last fuel crisis with 454's for cheap money--they couldn't GIVE them away then!--I wish I bought every one I saw,and all the Caddy's with 500's and Oldsmobiles and Buicks with 455's,I lost count of how many went to the crusher--try and find one now... :frown1:

So its a good time to buy a gas hogging big truck,SUV--or a MOTORHOME!--I have 3 HUGE RV dealers very close by--and they are crying for bussiness, the lots are jammed with new and traded in RV's and campers--I saw a nice 87 ford econoline 25' motor home sell for 1500 bucks the other day,and it was nearly mint!

I do hope fuel prices at least level off,and dont go any higher--its already showing up in prices of other goods, its hurting our economy--even the Cab drivers are trying to get permisson to raise their rates--they claim by summer, when things slow down, they will be PAYING to go to work, not making any money... :frown1:

Whatever the hell that means. Spreckenzie Klingon?

I paid $92 the other day to fill up the truck, about 30 gallons of diesel and $2.45ish a gallon. It's pissing me off that diesel costs more than 91 octane right now, the stuff is less refined for Pete's sake.

Some people don't want to hear that unfortunately. If they checked out the prices in Europe they would see that we are getting a bargain here. It isn't going to get much better though.
