Maybe you could use one that is designed for lowering trucks. I think I've seen them in Summit or Jegs.

Talking about a 2" shackle, commonly manufactured by Belltech.

Summit and Jegs has them like Sandman said, also call your local places that ruinate trucks by lowering them, they should be able to get ya some of these.

If you run the lowering shackles, be sure to weld a plate across the open area to beef them up a little. Keith (and others) have found that if they take a hit, they can fold up on ya.

    Yep, definitely a good idea.

JC Whitney's lowering shackles come with that already welded in. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Ok, I guess I just want to be 100% sure that these will work with the Ford F150 Springs. Will our stock shackles work with the F150 Springs? I really don't want to go from 4" to 6" in the back, untill I'm ready to install different front springs.

Tim, thanks for the link. Those are much different than the set I received from Summit. The Summit style is just folded sheetmetal...which isn't a bad deal once the plate is welded in.

Anyone know about the OEM shackle on the 57"ers for Mudfrog?

I was thinking about it and I don't think they would work, the shackle seems like it would be too short and you would have to majorly bow the springs to get them to fit.

I tried to use the OEM shakles with my 57's and ORD flip.

I put 2 35"tires in the bed of the truck for weight then I got up in also, the springs are so soft that it flexed and the shakles snaped past center locking the rear end down. I got out and lifted up on the bumper and it jumped back up to ride hight. So no they didn't work in my opinion.

I ordered the shakles Tim linked to the other day. Thanks Tim /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
