I am kind of worried now. It was pulled from a 84 k5 like mine. Two of the places where the crank rides (can't think of the name right now) are broke also in like a v shape and I can pull them right out. How does this happen and how can I make sure it does not happen to my new motor? Thanks Mike

Best guess, it was the harmonic balance that was bad. That crank in a 6.2 is doomed once the balance comes apart.

Is there a way to check it and make sure it is in good shape? Mike

Inspect the rubber cushion between the inner and outer part of the damper, maybe check the runout with a dial indicator.
