Id just loosen an injector line and crank over a little at a time and wait for fuel to come out the line then close the line.

How long is "a while"? I know of a few Diesels that set for months and fired right up.

I knew a guy that installed an el cheapo inline fuel pump under the hood before the filter to prime up to the inj. pump. Saved a headache or two.

If it's anything like mine, with the square fuel filter on the firewall, you just open the bleed valve on the fuel filter assembly, pull the pink wire off of the injector pump, and start cranking.

Crank the engine off and on for ten seconds at a time, watch for fuel to come out of the bleed valve on the fuel filter. Once fuel comes out, close the valve, reconnect the pink wire, and it should fire up after a little more cranking.

At least, that's how it works on my truck. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Yup. I read that out of the blue Haynes diesel repair book, I think. It's been a while since I changed a filter... /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

if you are bleeding air out of the system, you are supposed to open the bleed on the filter block and unplug the injector pump so you dont pump the air into the pump. You can air lock.
