OK, First off, this is the MALL cruiser!!! I want to be able to coast at 80 MPH on the freeway and not have to yell over the RPMs! Basically, instead of building it LOW LOW LOW! I want to go backwards and build it for Cruising! So, I was heading towards 3:08s again.... But I already have 3:73s in there! I'm conserned that the 3:73s will be too low to allow the 6.5L to cruise in it's power band.... Any suggestions would be appreciative... Not to mention, What are all you 6.5/6.2 465 guys running gear and tire wise... Thanks! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I think 3.08 are perfect for the setup you are describing.
    35"/3.08/1:1 trany = 2365RPM @ 80MPH, go with 3.73 and your RPM goes up to 2864.

    My 78 Sub that I'm putting the 6.5TD and 4L80E has 3.73 gears which would be 35"/3.73/1:.73 trany = 2091RPM @ 80MPH.....I may go with 4.10's to bring me back to 2298RPM @ 80MPH.

SO I'm assuming that you are pretty much saying that the power range for the 6.5 is between 2000-2500... That is where I should want the RPMs for cruising....? /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I can't remember where I got this from, but it was something like 1800rpm for peak economy, and 2800rpm for peak power. (This was for a 6.2L NA) I would assume the powerband is anywhere in between. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif
