6-lug 14-bolt semi-floater (9.5\") anybody using them

6-lug 14-bolt semi-floater (9.5") anybody using them? How about differental choices, are there many options? I like the idea of a stronger axle with six lugs to match what I currently have. Let me know about what you have experienced with these axles.

they are stronger than a 12 bolt.. Diff choices are limited to the Detroit.... And for gear choices, you can get anything up to a 4.56...

If you go that way, consider going to disc brakes. That way if a c-clip fails when wheeling it'll keep the shaft from shooting out..... The one I bought has 4.10 gears so you aren't limited to just 3.08's....it also has a detriot. So you can do stuff with it. Why I bought it was to just get matching 6 lugs for now to keep my tires and rims.....

I forgot, contact Luke aka Blue85! He bought an 8 lugger from me and converted it to 6 lug and did a custom rear disc install on it!!!!

Yeah, that's what Scooter did, too, converted from 8 to 6 lugs. [IMG]

You can also get new axle shafts from National Drivetrain in 6 lugs for about $88ea...

ARB makes an air locker for the 14-bolt SF, with the 9.5 inch ring gear. They don't (yet) make one for the 14-bolt FF, with the 10.5 inch ring gear. [IMG]

Yeah, what he said..
They are a good axle and even the available Gov-Lock is a lot stronger than the 10-bolt Gov-lock.

As for differential choices, I think that everything available for the 14FF is available for the SF. I know that you can get an Auburn, ARB, Detroit Locker, Powertrax No-Slip and PowerTrax Lock-Right for this axle. There may be others as well, but haven't I already named almost everything that you could want? The only thing that you might want that isn't available is that worm gear LS - is that the Tractech?

If you want one, you have to choose between an 8-lug that will bolt right up, a 6-lug that needs the mounts and perches moved or an 8-lug that also needs everything moved, so pick your poison.

Oh man, 4:10's are sure better than 3.08's!

the 6 lug axle shafts were $130 delivered, the Lock Rite was about $300 delivered from National Drivetrain (BTW- the price on these has just gone up, they're $315 + shipping now), and rear discs cost me about $250.

I've been running mine for about 2 weeks now and love it. WAY beefier than my 12 bolt. Its a 8 to 6 lug conversion with disc brakes.
