    6 lug 16\" rims??? Help!!!!

/forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif After an axle swap I have all sorts of mismatched tires and rims. Is there a specific year/vehicle I can get used 6 lug 16" rims to fit on my 1990 1/2 ton four wheel drive axles. I was told that the center holes are too small to use rims from a late model chevy. /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

That is a very rare wheel. Why not just use 15 inchers? They did offer 16 inch wheel/tire combos on 6 lug 1/2 ton trucks back in the late 60s/early 70s, but it was not a popular combination at all.

not rare, are alot of aluminum and steel 6 lug 16" wheels on 88-up trucks

junkyards sell them cheap, they are for 14 mm studs of 88 and up years
and have smaller bearing hub pilot holes than 87-down wheels

Those wheels are out there, but you'll probably have to do some looking to find 'em. Back in the 70's, before there were many off road tire options, lots of mud runners used the old military 9.00x16 gravedigger tires, so aftermarket 16-inch rims were fairly popular. Perhaps someone has a set stacked in the garage, just collecting dust. Also check around on some of the Toyota Land Cruiser sites. Later TLC's use a 16 inch wheel, but I'm not sure about the bolt pattern those later models.

    I thought 16" 6-luggers were easy to find. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

    My '66 C10 had a set (although very skinny - maybe 5"). My pickup-box trailer (w/12-bolt axle) came with 16's (6" wide I think).

You can use the 88-up 6-lug wheels (2wd steelies have more standard backspacing) providing you machine out the center holes.

Aftermarket white-spokes come in almost whatever size you want - even 16" 6-lug, and they're like $40 a pop.

American racing makes 16" 6 lug rims. in a couple of versions. I had a set. I bought them because I had a brand new set of 16" mud tires, but wanted to put them on my 1/2ton pickup.

I did not include the IFS wheels because they have the wrong backspacing, and the center holes are too small as noted above. He stated that he wanted them to FIT on his '90.

Those wheels are 16.5" diameter. No inner bead. but they are easy to find.

The 6-lug 4x4 wheels have strange backspacing. The 2wd ones from a light-duty 2500, as I said, have a "normal" backspacing.

Just as you said.... the center holes are the wrong size. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
