since all 68-79 years of 465 tranny were 10 spline, that means that 203 and 205 were both made 10 spline for these trannies 68-79 right ?

    then also 68-79 203 and 205 27 spline for th350 ?

    and then also 68-79 32 spline shorty 203 and 205 for th400 ?

    correct ?

    what about for 205 and 208 700r4 ? same 27 spline as th350 or ?

    just checking

The 10-spline SM465 (4wd) was used commonly from 68-80, and up to 84 in a 1-ton. The 10-spline NP203 was only used from 73-75 - although many say 74 only.

The 203 and 205 were 27-spline for th350 applications. 70-80 for the 205. 73-79 for the 203. The Rockwell t-case was used for 68-69, but may have been a Dana 20 in the Blazer/Jimmy.

The TH400 was not used in a 4wd application until 77. Then both the 203 and 205 appeared in corresponding 32-spline format.

Spline is the same (27) between the TH350 and TH700 - although the shaft length is different.

    what about a 465 with a 203 in other years other than 74 onl;y ? did it ever exist ? full time 4x4 with 465 ?

so are two different 27 spline outputs for 4x4 ? so this is why 1.5" adapter length difference ?

    thanks

Yes, 73-75 are the only years you could get the SM465 and NP203 together. Its not a common configuration. I sold mine to mj /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You may be able to use a late 465 (long 32-spline) with the 208 adapter to fit a 32-spline NP203. You will need to re-drill the face of the 203 for the round pattern though.

Dodge used the NP203 exclusively from 75-79 or so. As a result NP435/NP203 combos are relatively easy to find. If you can splice the Dodge NP435 together with a 68-70 Chevy NP435, you may have a viable alternative.

This sounds right... thats why you need to get a custom "short" output shaft for a TH700 to run a 27-spline NP205.
