I got one at a local GM dealer for less than $20.00 bucks.

Ditto!!! I have rebuilt 2 700R4's this year and have no clue what an inspection cover is. Or maybe I just called it something else, like "The Thingy"... /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I am pretty sure the inspection cover that he is reffering to is the torque converter inspection cover. If it is a truck K case then it is made from aluminum and has 6 3/8" bolts retaining it to the transmission.

That cover is from a car not a 4x4 truck. The 2WD trucks I believe use that steel sheet metal cover though, they also come made of plastic. The true 4x4 covers are made of aluminum and use 6 3/8" bolts to retain it to the transmission.
