Because the tranny is smoked. Nothing short of a full rebuild cures that symptom. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Isn't there something along the lines of a "2nd to 3rd accumulator valve" in the R4's? Seems a guy a the local tranny shop mentioned something like this.

in another website, it was brought up on how finicky the 700r4's are with the TC cable, this website was posted as being very knowledgable on the 700.

i had the same problem when i put my shift kit in, pull the valve body out and make sure all of the rods are lubed, if it is dry it won't allow it to shift into gears properly. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Ya what everyone said, lol, they are all good recommendations. I had the same problem when I first bought my Blazer. First thing I did was get a new cable, around $15, that didn't fix it, but you should get a new one anyways /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I had mine rebuilt at a local tranny shop, with a lower in shift kit and T.converter it costed me $1200 with a one year warranty, the warranty helped! one week to the day of the warranty ending it burnt up again /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif got it fixed for free /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif 2 years now, everything is still perfect down there.

up here still a little hazy...

didnt screw that little bolt in all the way that hold's the TV cable in so inderectly the cable wasnt adjusted right as the cable housing could travel in and out also
so off to the rebuild shop
Thansk a million for all the help and ideas guys

My 700 shifted fine one day, then wouldnt shift out of first the next. My governor gear looked like that, but none of the teeth were recognizeable. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif Just seeing that picture of yours brought back the memory so I just had to post.

How much material, You would have to have seriously smoked the clutchs to not allow a shift, I could see if it was sliping but you said it just wouldnt shift. Some material in the pan is normal. I would fix the tv cable change the filter and fill it up and at least give it a shot. Worst case senaro Your out 4$ for the filter and 10$ for some fluid. Best case you save 1000 on a trans.
