/forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif Hello, I am an newbie. I tried searching for the info I need, but couldn't find what I needed. I just bought a 79 with a 700r4 with waiting to go in to it. I don't have an engine to go into it so I am trying to trade the 700r4 for a 350 engine. My question is, I have a 74 Suburban 2wd with a dead engine and a fresh TH400. If I swap out my 700r4 for the TH400 will I be creating a disaster in trying to get the TH400 to fit up to my NP203 T-case? I read on one post that 2wd and 4wd TH400 were different. It just want to know before I trade my 700r4 for the engine if I am better off to just keep my 700r4 and try a different route for an engine. Thanks in advance for the answers. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

    A 2wd T-400 will not bolt to a 203 t-case. If this 2wd t-400 you have has a 4.5" output like most 2wd trannies it will bolt to a 205 t-case. I'd go for a 205 t-case and use the t-400.

So you know, a 4wd t-400 has a stronger case but the 2wd is fine for most applications. I have a couple of 2wd tranny cases in my trucks with no problems.

Does anyone sell an adapter to convert over to the correct spline configuration?
