    88 k5 with tbi. Is the 700r4 computer controled or not

    No. 700R4 in an 88 is controlled by the TV cable, which is attached to the throttle body and moves with the throttle.

    No it is not computer contolled as far as the shifting is concerned.

    Yes, The computer controls when the torque convertor locks up.

    No computer has ever controlled the lockup on any 700R4 I've ever dealt with. On my truck there's a vacuum switch on the firewall controlling lockup.

    On the EFI rigs, the converter is controlled by the puter.

    To answer your question, on your 88 with EFI, the TCC (torque convertor clutch) is the only function of the transmission controlled by the computer.

    Okay, I didn't know that. Guess you learn something new every day. I thought all had the vacuum switch.
