Is there any way to tell what year your 700R4 came from

Also,Is first gear supposed to be very short. Once I start traveling about 7 to 10 mph it shifts to 2nd (It has a Very smooth shift). Its like first gear has alot of torque to take the stress off the motor and trans because of the big tires. Is it posiable it has some kind of shifter kit in it. ?

That seems a little low. You might want to have the dedent cable adjusted. You can also have a shift kit put in. It will make your tranny last a lot longer as long as you dont put in a really harsh shift kit in.
