72\' CAR HEADS???

My neighbor has a pair of 350 heads off his Monte Carlo.Does anyone know about these heads...would it be worth it to throw on?Would the CR increase on my 78' or are they the same? They have like 6000 miles since the valve job.

Can't really tell you much until you find out which casting # the heads are. Once you get that number, look it up on www.mortec.com

you will need the casting #'s ,to notice any change from what you have now you will need 64 c.c. chambers and preferably 2.02/1.94 valves diameters.chance of those heads being very good are slim off of a monte carlo, most carlos and camaros in '72 w/hi. perf. options had the 402 big block .350 in 72 only put out 245 h.p. good factory iron heads came from 300/350 h.p. engines.

Another thing is that car heads tend to be light duty heads whereas truck heads were USUALLY heavy duty. The easiest way I know of to tell is to look at the outside row of bolt hole at the bottom of the head. If the casting on the head goes in and out between the bolt holes it is light duty. If the casting is more of a straight line they are heavy duty.

i would guess they are 882 heads. not great, but they work. i have them on my 400.
if the price is right...why not? at worse they are custom boat anchors [IMG]
