Help, my gas tank just sprung a leak, crack leak but bad enought to drip visibly. Managed to patch it with some stop leak putty, but that is temporary. anyone know where I can buy a replacement. LMC doesn't carry one. I could use a used one and have it treated...I guess any ideas?

I got the poly one from Brothers and I wish I would have gotten the 40gal Areo(or whatever it's called) Only cuz I burn up that 21 gallons way too quick. The poly one is leaking out the top were the sending unit goes. I have another seal/O-ring to stop the leak but now I'm thinking of getting a whole new tank, 40 gallon one!!
Anyone wana buy my used Poly tank??I'll trhow in a new O-ring seal for the sending unit???[IMG]

FEED ME, what year was that tank out of and was there any mods you had to do to put it in? I think you had a thread about that but I don't remember how long ago it was. Give me all the info you can arq if you don't mind, I"m fixing to do a 2" body lift in the next month or so, I"d like to swap my tank while I"m at it since I have a problem with the sending unit or wire... thanks

    LKJR,
send 19.99 to my email address for a broucher and recieve a guinsu knife for free. offer just ended... just kidding.

from the top of my head
    1 - 31gal tank from a 73-86(preEFI) or 86-91(EFI)
1 - set of straps from doner blazer
    1 - skid plate
    2 - 34"x2" 1/4" thick iron angles
1 - 34"x1" flat iron, this will go on top of the tank

you will have to do the following
    1) remove the rear bumper and gastank, makes things easier.
    2) remove rearmost Xmember, I did not reuse this.

the tricky part is puting the gastank in, get a friend to help you out or a few floor jacks. the 2" body lift helps for ground clearance. i ended up with the same ground clearance as my original tank.
make sure you play around with the positioning of the tank before you drill/bolt stuff up. try putting on your bumper to see if it will still fit.
also, you will have to put in the 31gal tank with the fuel inlet pointing towards the driver side of the blazer.
i used the 1" flat iron to keep the tank from being pushed up too much where it would hit the bed of the blazer. and save those old body mounts bolt them between the tank and the 1" flat iron.

if you have any questions or want to see pics of details or measurements let me know.

Whoo that seems like kinda tough, I looked at your pics what was the angle iron for? Also what if I cant find a skid plate, mine does not have one now? Did the sending unit and filler spouts bolt up to the exising ones? Or did you have to reroute them?

the angle irons are to hold the tank up, they sit on top of the frame. the straps are mounted front to rear, drill two holes on the angle iron and run the strap ends through them.
i think all blazers 73+ came with skid plates, they should be easy to find. you can always add one later, but with that much extra gas i would highly recomend it.
the sending unit pluged right up. as for the filler spouts. i had to get a reducer from the tank to the filler tube, i got it at pepgirls for about a buck. you can get one made at a muffler shop.
