I am replacing my 1978 blazer front end and doors with an 1982 front end and doors. Everything seems to be fitting OK so far except for the hood hinges. The hood hinge is made up of two hinges, one that connects from the fender to the hood and another that connects from the hood to the firewall (I guess). However my 1978 firewall has no place to bolt these hinges. Has anyone encountered this before and how did you get around it? Any other suggestions or anything else that could be problematic in the future that I need to keep an eye on. Thanks for any help you can give.

On my 82, the hinges bolt to the fender, and the other set actually go through the firewall(there is a cut out)I dont know where they go inside.

Friend encountered this not too long ago. I know he cut the slots for the hinges to pass through the firewall (better paint them or you are inviting rust) and I believe as well, he welded on two pieces of steel for the bolts to pass through.

Go scroll up to the top of the screen where it say "technical". There's a whole right up where a fella put a '89-91 front on a '70s K5. That should show you how to do it.
