My battery has been dieing, while idling and letting it sit. I have an amp and sub, stock 42 amp alternator (80 jimmy)I believe and a battery that leaks a lot of acid.

Can I just put in an 80 amp alternator without changing wires? and what battery should I use? One more thing, anyone have an idea on the cost to replace a windshield seal?

I think I might just get a car, don't really want payments but my Jimmy is falling apart.

You can do anything you want. I would recommend putting on heavier gauge wires. This will allow you full advantage of the alternator. Minimum 8 gauge wire. If you can put on a 4 gauge battery cable on the output stud of the alternator.
