73-up uses a crossmember under the back of the SM465. They use an aluminum bellhousing too.

I had a SM465 crossmember from a '79 2wd 1-ton, and it "humps" up on both sides for dual exhaust clearance. The TH400 crossmember in my Burb is definitely not the same.

The 73-up SM465's have a different tailhousing. Also, all four holes on the front of the tranny are drilled through - 72-older had the bottom two threaded.

crappy. case itself is same casting number all years and applications, but apparently tail piece casting change and then the two front holes change, yeah this 68 one(first year for the 465 tranny) does have two threaded and other two not, up front

thanks for your time and info /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
