First off I'd like to get it back on the road, then I'd like to upgrade to atleast a 12 bolt with 3.73 or 14b 3.73-4.11 and an eight lug front to match?

first off a 12bolt is only just a tiny bit stronger then a 10bolt so it would not be worth the change so i would say go with a 14ff

Well Price matters, if I come across something that gets me back on the road cheap, then that may just work for the time being.

I have a 14bolt w/ 3.73's that needs new spider gears ($25 parts) or a detroit locker will fix it. I need some cash to rebuild my rear axle so would sell it for $100 and throw in 4 - 8 lug rims with some useable tires. Then you can drive your truck till you find 8 lug conversion parts for the front.

Well guys the more I look into this rearend problem , I'm thinking I should go with the 4.11 or 4.10 gears to get my rig back to a more stock ratio with 35" tires. Bear with my though , I'm kinda learnin' as I go.

    auto or manual??

you'd want 4.10's with an auto( or 456 if you don't care for mileage) and 4.56's with a manual or an overdrive tranny.

actually if you have a th350 or th400 or the sm465 then go with 4:11's with a 700r4 or the nv4500 then go with 4:56's for the rpms to be good on the freeway /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Manuals require lower gears since they don't have the multiplying factor of the torque converter.

I'd offer $400 cash. $500 seams steep. but then again I paid $500 for a running burb with my axles and engine /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
