    Those are some of the worst years ever for the 700r4. There was a major re-design for '87 and a few tweaks in '89 or so.

    It wasnt much of a difference from what I have been told. Something to do w/ the pump I think.

    The whole valve body is different. GM had MAJOR problems with the early 700r4's. The failure rate got to the point that they were paying for tranny repairs for owners long after the standard warranty expired. So in '87 they finally started doing something about it. The case itself is different, as many of the fluid paths for the valve body changed. Later models even have an extra hydraulic circuit that bolts to the bottom of the valve body.

    Thanx Harry. I knew there were some yrs better than others, but was told it was just something to do w/ the # of bolts at the pump, or somthin like that. It really dont matter to me cuz I have a TH350 in mine now, so I didnt bother keeping it to memory. [​IMG]
