HEY GUYS I GOT A QUESTION ABOUT MY BUDDIES 85 K5.WHENEVER YOU ACCELERATE OR SLOW DOWN THE TRUCK WILL SHAKE THE DOG CRAP OUT OF YOU,NOW WE CHANGED BALL JOINTS AND CHECKED THE TIE ROD ENDS,PLUS WHEN HE GOT IT IT HAD CRAZY LIFT SHACKLES ON IT,WE REMOVED THOSE AND FABBED A SET FROM 3/8" STEEL PLATE AND GRADE8 BOLTS,BUT THE THING STILL SHAKES LIKE CRAZY.IF YOU WATCH THE TRUCK FROM BEHIND THE FRONT AXLE APPEARS TO SHAKE FROM SIDE TO SIDE,ITS RUNNING 6" LIFT SPRINGS WITH BALANCED 35" BOGGERS.. ONE THING WE DID NOTICE IS THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE FRAME RAIL APPEARS TO BE TWISTED INWARDS AT THE SHACKLE. WHAT DO YOU GUYS MAKE OF THIS?

Maybe something is wrong with the wheel bearings. I can't think of anything else it could be.

Go back to stock length shackles and check the steering box to see if its loose or if the frame is cracked.

I agree with the others, cracked frame or wheel bearings. I have to replace my bearing about every 18 - 24 months or so. The symptom is a shimmy while breaking. The frame will crack not only around the stearing box but also around the transfer case cross member bolt holes. The twisted frame is odd, might want to have it checked and straightened. A last thought. Might want to replace the bushings on the front end. Really tightens things up. You might be suffering from a number of small things that have led to something larger.

It's obviously a problem with the "CAPS LOCK" key. [IMG]

Seriously, try a different set of tires. Out of round tires can cause this. Also, if there's an angle block between the axle and springs up front, that can rotate the axle too far so that the caster angle approaces zero degrees. Not a good thing. This will cause the front end to behave like a bent wheel on a shopping cart. [IMG]
