I'm looking to put a new engine in my 86 Blazer with a 700-R4 trans. What I'm wondering is if a newer year model 350 will hook up to the tranny. IF so what isthe newest engine I could use. The reason I ask is because I haven't been able to find a after market crate engine with the torque range I want, and I was hoping to get a stock crate engine from a newer model with more Horsepower. Any information would be a great help. Thanks in advance

You can bolt up any small block 350 engine you want to that transmission. Look at GM's crate engines, they have a Vortec 330hp that can be gotten with GM Part# 12496968. It's complete from carb to oil pan. Also Includes Chromed Air Cleaner and Plug Wires. All you need is oil and spark plugs. Price $3,095.99 or a long block GM Part# 12486041 Price $2,095.99 These are brand new engines from GM. Either one is a bolt in for you. Try here:

You will also need a new flex plate since 86 was the odd ball year. That is no big deal. $60.00 part from GM...Dan
