    \'87 blazer, v10?

I recently just purchased my first blazer(and Chevy) and i love it so far. only a had a few problems so far. But anyways i got my licensing info and when they put in the vin # it came out as a V10 blazer. Is this just k5 with some different options or what. Oh by the way its an 1987 K5 with a 350. Any help would be great. I gotta figure out whta im driving before i start ordering stuff.

It's a K5, the V10 is an internal code from GM.

I would not call it a K5 when ordering parts. It will just confuse parts people. many dont know a Blazer from a Bronco Some will even tell you there is no such thing as a K5 model because it does not show on the computer as a K5 for later year Blazers. When ordering parts just call it a Full Size 4x4 Blazer, It will save you many confused/dumb looks.

For some odd reason GM changed the letter designations in 87. 4wd went from "K" to "V", and 2wd went from "C" to "R".
Only applies to 87s as far as I know.

I thin R and V were used through 91 actually, but, as many times before, i am probably wrong

    The "V" and "R" were used from 87 through 91 the 10 or 20 following the letter means it is a half ton, 10, or a 3/4 ton, 20 a V10 would be a half ton 4X4 an R20 would be a 2WD 3/4 ton. I think......

YEP, its still a K5 model, its just a code they used. When you go to the parts store it will be listed under v10 in the computers. My insurance company has my two down as v18's. How they came up with that I'll never know?
Good luck with the new truck /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
87's are nice do you still have the TBI
(I have two of them /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif both are injected /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif)

Yeah its got the TBI and she runs strong. Also enjoying the fact that I was changing the fluid in the rear end and realized it allready had a 12blt swapped in with a posi. good enough to make my day.
