    I WAS CHANGING MY OIL TODAY . I TURNED MY FRONT DRIVESHAFT TO CLEAN THE OIL OFF FROM THE FILTER IT SOUNDED LIKE ONE OF THOSE OLD BICYCLE BELLS RINGING ? IS IT SUPOSED TO SOUND LIKE THAT?

    Unless you ran over your kids bike and the bells jammed in there...NO! Disconnect the driveshaft from the t-case (and not the diff) and spin it, if it makes noise it's in the frontend (diff, axles, hubs, etc) try it with and w/o the hubs locked. Then turn the t-case end in the different ranges. If its quiet on both sides, it's probably the driveshaft. It will take some time, but process of elimination is what it will probably boil down to. Let us know what you find.

    Pull the diff cover and take a look see.. Maybe it just needs oil? Probably should get it fixed but I'd probably run it till it grenades and put 3/4 ton gear under my truck.

    THANKS FOR THE ADVICE BUT I DONT TAKE ANYTHING TO A SHOP UNTIL I GET DONE MESSIN IT ALL UP TRYIN TO FIX IT MYSELF.

    It doesn't have a diff cover. The diff housing splits in half from front to back. It must be removed from the vehicle to do this.

    Sounds like it needs more than oil.
