The latest Jimmy I've owned was an 87. I'm looking at another one now, my fifth, and I was wondering if there was any major diferences between the 87's and the 88 to 91's? Was there any major changes in transmissions and such? Thanks

88 they started using NP241 transfer cases. Basically same as an NP208(as in your 87) but slightly lower gear ratio. In 89 they started using 30 spline axle shafts in the axles(still 10 bolts) which is a slight bit stronger but hey its still a 10 bolt right? The front clip of the 89up is different. Side by side headlights and different grill all thats really different. Many people prefer the look of the newer style(myself included). Rear antilock brakes in 90 I believe. I am going over the specs page here http://www.coloradok5.com/specs.shtml#1987 thats about all really. Oh 100 amp alternator in 91 and somewhere around 89 or 90 was serpentine belt drive.
