I currently have a 91 K5 and can use the whole thing as a fixture to make any parts that are not currently offered by the aftermarket - so what all is in demand?

Got my 91 K5 back after 2 years - and man I need parts - BAD!!!!

A framerail to framerail removable skid plate that protects the tcase, tranny and our LAME crossover exhaust pipe.

    (I don't ask for much)

A low profile bolt in front cross member would be idea, lots of us run into prolems clearing cross-over steering drag links etc..

Some kind of rear spring hangers that are narrower so some of us don't have to cut and relocate the spring perches on the 1 ton rear axles.

Such hangers would have to be made narrower than what they are now. You could make them 'lower' to give more lift, too.

I noticed for the steering crossover conversion that it is neccessary to build a crossmember up front to replace the factory one, nobody fabricates this all ready?

Not that I know of, I'm sure you could go to most fab shops and have them make one but nobody has any off the shelf that I know of.

Stephen at ORD has a custom crossmember for some of his earlier x over kits. There are pics floating around someplace.....

His current production kit does not need it.

It is not neccessary to modify the crossmember. You can get a bent drag link from RockStomper or ORD to clear the crossmember. I agree with Steve that we need more body armor. The Poly trans mount is a kick ass idea too. Bumpers that don't cost an arm and a leg would probably sell good. Tire carriers for stock and built bumpers too.

As far as I know ORD hasn't come out with a cross member yet, I have ORD's current production kit with about 5" of lift and the drag link will touch the stock crossmember just a tad, I can simply trim away right there and be fine, but if I had a low profile tube crossmember I could go with a straight or near straight draglink.

hell yeah! - hell yeah!!!! - keep them coming, these are all relativiely easy things to fabricate - I would love to get my name out there - I would say that the first thing would deffinetely be is a poly case mount ( cause I want to make one for my truck ) Ill have to make a few and just send them out ( No Charge ) to see what impressions and ideas I get - kinda like a feild study

I agree with Steve tho - don't think any of this is in production.

I'll take two case mounts once you've got 'em done[IMG] - another nice touch would be an improved T-case crossmember (say tubular with provisions for replaceable skidplates?).

......And knowing is half the battle

Yeah, I would love it if Stevo would put that into production, that was from his old setup when he ran springs.

Yeah Pugs! It would clean up the undercarriage.

Bosco - do you need my truck for a weekend? Serously I will be needing bumpers. The rear ASAP. I want SEC bumpers but unless I talk Rene into a road trip shipping will prohibit the purchase from SEC....

well, I want you guys to know that when I saw my Blazer on the dealership I fell in love with it. Since them it has been a learning process as far as what means what ( discriptive terms, items, etc. ) But that was in 98. Since then I have added a 14 bolt w/ 4:11's ( 33's ) and have had a trans ( 700R4 ) built by Art Carr.

I would deeply love to get into making items for these vehicles just because I happen to own one ( and love it ), so please bare with me when I ask questions that might seem relitively simple to those more experienced.

My job here at West Coast Fiero is welder, machinist, fabricator, and everything else involving custom fabrication and design. To see some of the things I help to make visit www.cwestco.com

But first things first, I want to make is a poly trans-case mount because of the lack of aftermarket in this department. Second would be a front crossmember for the crossover steering conversions ( saw the pics and I believe that a simple fixture would be needed to make these on a large scale ) Third, I would like to make a full-belly protection system as the factory tranfer case skid plate is rather, well - useless. It needs to extend forward and back to protect the exhaust, as well as the drive train. However it would also be easily removable to provide access for repair, and would either be aluminum diamond plate or powder coated steel

So granted - I am very new on the block here, but count me in for the long haul

    Eric

I would test one of your mounts but my 700r4/241 is comming out soon for a th400/205. I would be happy to test a rear tire carrier for ya.[IMG] Also a front winch bumper like SEC sells but with a better price would be a big seller I think. Axle truss kits might also sell good. Roll cages would also sell.
