    \'91 K5 Blazer

2nd attempt, I'm interested in buying a '91 K5 Blazer and was wonderig if there are any inherit problems (such as the transmission, electrical, etc...) with this model year. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

not really any problems. you get the newest incarnation of the original K5, with all the creature comforts.
depending on where you live, look for rust in the rockers and tailgate area, and take a look at the u-joints, rear end, etc.

This is your first post, but your second attempt??

Anyhow, like delta said, the 91' is the newest of it's kind. Nothing really bad with them as far as tranny and electrical.
What are your plans with this truck?? daily driver, wheeler, weekend warrior??
Basically, the truck will have Auto OD trans, 350 motor, TBI, NP241 Tcase, 10bolt front and rear, (hopefully a working A/C), etc, etc.
Famous rust places are the rear tail pan, rockers, and wheel well, and the floor cab. Atleast that's where all the rust on my 89' was.

I had a 91 a few years back (miss her, sniff sniff) the only probs I had was the alternator. GM had a problem with the bearings. I locked up 3 of them in 2 years. The 700R4 runs hot, check the tranny really good. It's a cheap rebuild though. I had mine done for 600, built to the hilt.

I bought mine and had to rebuild the trans about two weeks after I got it.(The guy did a patch job!@#$%%^) Other wise nothing major has gone out. Just the alt. and radiator. Next year it will get an engine, just so I know what I have. If the truck is what you want, buy it.

It's nice to know that there is another Alex on here! I'm an Alex also. Anyway, like the rest of the guys have said, check the rust potential areas and just take the time and look it over. Most of all, if it's what you want and a good price, go for it! Next, we'll worry about getting that 15" lift and 44's going!

Nope, I believe the first year for the NP241 was '90. That's what I got in mine.

    90 GMC Jimmy, 350 TBI, 700R4, 32's
84 Bronco II 204,000 miles and counting...........that's 206,000 and counting now

    Alex,
Bought my '91 10 months ago with 160,000 miles, manual 4 speed and stock except for 33's and a mild lift. Gets 15
mpg highway and 12 in town. No known faults yet.

Actually the NP241 started around 88' I think, but was standard in 89'. My 89' has the 241.
As for the guy with the 85' Burb with the 241....I'm stumped. Did that really come with it stock? Or did the previous owner swapped that in with it along with a newer R4 or something? That would be my guess.
