This is my 2nd time trying to quit smoking. Does the term CHEWING ON NAILS ring a bell?

There has GOT to be an easier way than this. I been an a$$hole for 3 days now and its getting worse, anyone know anything that helps, other than target practicing at local rice burners? Today a gofer got in my new landscaping and I was so out of it... I was gonna use my 12 guage in his hole til I snapped out of it /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif, I'll try anything at this point.

I have been smoking for 22 years.. I have only tried to quit once.. That was a few months ago.. I lasted 3 weeks.. I went to the doctor and got welbutrin.. And patches.. I didn't have Physical cravings.. It was more mental.. Having something to do with my hands.. and mouth... But I wasn't moody.. I am going to try again in a few weeks..

I quit 5 years ago, never went back. Did Nicoderm patch during the day only for 2 weeks, but also took lots of B vitamins (1500 mg. B1 and 3-4 B complex with 1000 mg C) drank lots of water and exercised for a couple months. Pantothenic acid (B5 IIRC) directly helps reduce cravings.

And you have to commit to quitting every day. One day at a time.

I just quit about a month ago. Had only been smoking for 4 years which was helpful (not a lifetime). Gum definitely helps, also I found that suckers help (Jolly Rancher makes one with a hard plastic stick that you can chew on) by giving you something to move to your mouth and away to help the above previously stated mental dependency or oral fixation. Both of those have definitely helped me. Good luck to you.

You should weed yourself down slowly. Take only a certain amout with you to work and stick to that till your down to 1/4 what you were smoking then use the patch or gum. Takeing vitamins does help also, more than you would think.

    2-use mouth wash,
    3-then drink grapefruit juice...
sounds dumb but kills the cravings /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Im trying to do the same thing. I can remember my first cig. It was November in 1986. I was sitting in an E-club on Camp Pendelton, Ca and had just graudated I.T.S. Man I about died when that smoke hit my lungs. But I had a few more beers and the 2nd wasnt so bad. Have been smoking ever since.
I am going back to work next week after not working for 4 years and my wife and I came to an agreement that we will both try to quit. So far I am stocked up with Patches and Smoke-Away. So I hope one of them works.
I also started a new thing a couple of months ago that has got me really motivated to quit. We used to just go to the store and buy smokes when we needed them with cash but now have been buying them out of our checking account. I have Quicken2003 in stalled that I keep my account on and made up a new catergory on Jan 1st for what we pay just for cigs. So far just for this year we have spent $991.73. I sit back and think of the things I could have bought with that and it blowes me away.
    Well wish me luck also.

You can buy the stuff in rolls at Costco. Also, most quikie mart places sell it on the counter tops. I used it when I quit too. It helps some. It won't kill the nicotine craving, but it'll give you something to chomp on. I still chew on stuff all the time. My wife gets mad at me because she can't find a pen that doesn't have the ends chewed off. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
