Just changed my power steering pump. My truck originally came with A/C so my pump had the double pulley. The pump I got has the single pulley. My Q is for those of you with trucks that don't have A/C does the belt for your power steering go over the fan pulley as well?
My original had the belt just from the main pulley, and that does not line up with my new single pulley that I just got.
I'd like to know so I can just get the right belt.
I'd rather not have to change pulleys (feeling kind of lazy today [IMG])

I run two belts. One belt is Crank,Waterpump & Altinator.
The second belt is Crank and PSPump ONLY
    Hope this helps

That was the way mine was. Now the power steering belt lines up on the middle slot of the crank pulley. If I try and pull it tight just going from the crank to the power steering pump the belt hits the under side of the water pump/fan pulley. Before it used to clear behind the WP pulley because it was in the last slot. Makin any sense?

    Ya that makes sence.
On mine the PS belt is on the outside and the waterpump/alt is on the inside. So inorder to remove the water/alt belt I must also remove the PS belt. Know I'm pretty sure my waterpump pully is a sigle groove pully!! Is your two? If so you may need the sigle now!??!
That is all I can think of?

You should just swap the pulleys between the 2 so your old pulley is on the new pump. I had my local Checkers take mine off when I got a new AGR pump. You need a special puller. The install is simple. Just use a bolt/nut to put it on.

How exactly does the pulley come off? I see an allen socket in the center, but does the pulley just press on off?
Will a 3 jaw puller take it off?

There's a special puller for that type of pulley. Most of the parts stores will loan you one. I ended up buying a special puller set because of all the strange pulleys coming out on the vehicles.

A 3 jaw puller won't work. You need a special puller thats designed for the powersteering pump shaft. It hooks over that groove. The guy that did mine had an impact and that special puller. Once when you get it off, it's a snap to install it.

You know a different belt would be so much easier.[IMG]

Back to the original question, the PS belt goes around the middle groove on the crank, the pump itself, and the inner groove on the water pump. The outer belt is around the WP, ALT, and crank. Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the reply's. Looks like I'll be measuring it up for a new belt.
