I just read an article in "Fortune" that talks about how well Bush has done in the spending department. In fact, it shows that his economic plans have been FAR MORE generous than those proposed by the opposition during the last election.

FWIW, I'm sure most "historians" are bark-eating Liberals, anyhow.

To Me Rolling Stone covering politics is about the same as Good House Keeping covering 4X4 of the year.

Only line in the entire article that requires reading...

Bush cut taxes, kills terrorists and doesn't listen to the idiots in the left wing. That puts him above at least half the Presidents I can think of.

He's definately not afraid to spend money. What was our national debt again? Hell, half the people here in Texas have turned on him.

    James Buchanan

Any historian who can say any president was worse than James Buchanan has no credibility in my opinion.

Everyone who pays taxes. What, didn't your buddies at Clinton News Network or the NY Slimes tell you that?

Translation: people who hire poor people like us. A tax break to a guy making $7/hr doesn't do hardly anything for the economy. A tax break for a rich guy does... because he hires more people, invests more, buys more things etc etc etc.

Its entirely safe to guess that you were educated at a public school.

You clearly don't know anything about economics save what they tell you on CNN (which is pretty much all BS). "trickle down" economics is left-wing socialist code for "capitalism". It is impossible for $ not to trickle down. The only way it couldn't would be if rich guys kept every single penny they owned in cash buried in their back yard.... and never bought anything with it... or paid for any services of any kind. Now, how many rich people do you think that describes? Thats right, zero. Rich people buy cool toys... those toys are made by poor people... those toys are delivered by poor people... those toys are serviced by poor people. Rich people go out and eat at spendy restraunts. That results in poor people serving food, making food, delivering food, harvesting food, growing food etc etc etc. Rich people tend to want to grow their businesses... to do that, they must invest in new infrastructure, buildings, employees etc... all of which are built/staffed by poor/middle class people. It goes on and on. This is how our economy works... and has worked for pretty much our entire history. Of course, I'm sure your public school didn't teach you anything about that either...

And obviously...you didn't get a tax cut....or maybe you didn't hear that he cut taxes 5% for the poorest....He cut it from 15% to 10%. If you think that only poor people (Who get an awful lot of any taxes they pay back on their refund) should get tax cuts and nobody else....you are not a capitalist. That is, in total definiton, re-distribution of wealth....i.e. Socialism. I'm sorry, but while someone has a million dollars and I don't, he should be entitled to a break since he is also paying more taxes on his cash in one year than I could make in 15 years.

Yeah I so agree! I heard 2 congress men are trying to investigate the gas companies keeping capasity low to keep prices high. We all know they are up to something because they raised prices before their storage tanks ran out as Katrina was hitting, so they can make extra $$. Also the CEO of Exon? just retired with $340million severance package and home security, and a car and driver. That breaks down to $140,000 for every day he worked there. :angry1:

This article is so slanted too! I know Bush isn't the best president but to call him the worst is a long shot. I think he needs to create peace in Iraq and/or find Osama and his aproval will go to 95%. Also some how get Iran off their nuke program, and people will love him.

Who has heard of the "supposed" plan to drop nukes on Iran's nuke manufacuring facilities. This can only be concieved by a tree hugger liberal trying to make Bush look bad. I mean its not like using nukes will automatically start a world war and turn everyone against us.

What exactly do you want a president of a capitalist, free-market country to do?

Yeah, there are.....the same people who create laws to make it harder to build refineries.

As someone said here before, "It's so interesting that they want to investigate high prices right now. These are the same people that, when the price is low, want to increase the gasoline taxes to reduce demand." So, so true.

Couldnt have said it better. To say president bush doesnt spend A TON of money is an outright lie. There has been enough money spent in iraq to give over 1 million college students full scholarships for all 4 years of college. Doesnt really matter unless your in college like me paying $10,000 a year for school......only to graduate and start work over $40,000 in debt. Im not a liberal....more independant. Ill vote republican or democrat....just depends what candidate I like better. All politics is screwy. People do more whats right for their party....rather than whats right for the country. You dont have to be a genious to see that bush has done some stupid things....hes done some good things too...sooo.......whatever. I know yall hard core conservatives on here want to flame....so flame away. Just remember, ill vote for anyone if i like their views.....period.

I saw Jim Cramer....(yes hes whacky but smart) yesterday say that gas will be $5 a gallon by fall. He said its simple supply and demand. Something like Asia used more gas last year, than the whole world consumed 10 years ago. But that still doesnt tell us why gas companies made so much profit last year....
EDIT*** hardball is on msnbc right now and are talking about the gas problem. $2.88/gallon national average. $3.24 in hawaii. $73 a barrel.....interesting hardball
