Okay i have the shape of my cage all planned out but do i make a "halo bar" then run the supports to the floor or run supports across the roof along the top of the door and down to the frame and then tie the two toghter with tube, or make a solid a-piller then tie em toghter. Each color represents its own peice of tube in the pictures. Yes there is more bracing going in than what is shown its just the idea.

    So...

    A

    B

    OR

    C.

    Thanks

Well you have a good question. I run a s&w race cars cage in my k5 and it is designed like b with a main hoop a halo and windshield posts. I like it and feel it is a good design. They claim all their cages are NHRA certified for design and strength. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Just my 2 cents.

    A would be the strongest.
that is basicly how I do all of my cages. one windshield post bar that starts at the floor by your feet and goes through the dash past the windshield and past your head to the rear hoop. the bends might be a little harder but one piece of tube for that whole length is a lot stronger then a bunch of pieces welded together. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

So therefore how the front a-piller and top bracing is built is the difference. I was just trying to find out if one paticular way is stronger than another, or much eaiser to build.

Ahh ok I understand now, A has the front hoop all one solid piece of tube...that's the best design from the looks of it IMO.

I would think if you can weld good its probably a small difference from one to the other. C is probably the strongest. I would do A. Just my opinion.
