    A-tron anti wrap bar pic\'s

Well I just got the A-tron anti wrap bar installed on my truck. Let me tell you it is a work of art!!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Bill (45acp) is a master at what he does.

I only have 3 decent pic's right now

Testing begins when the rest of the truck is finished...here is the link to the project page.

    Install a 85 J-code 6.2
    Install my D60 front
    Grind calipers for 15's
    relocate axle 1.25" forwards
    Fix frame cracks
    Install Frame repair kit
    Re-seal tranny and T-case
    Install new T-case adaptor
    Install A-tron anti wrap bar
    Install A-tron rear disc brakes
Convert to non AC heater box and controls

I hope to have it done before X-mas... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

It looks cool, but how does it work?
Is it limiting articulation or just rotation?

It eliminates housing rotation but not articulation. The front ends of the bars are attached to threaded stainless mounts at the shackle so they can rotate. The shackle allows for the lengthening and shortening of the springs as they cycle. This is the proto-type so there will likely be areas that need tweaking and fine tuning...stay tuned!

Was wandering how that was going to work. Doesn't look like you lose much if any ground clearance /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Would that clear a t-case output shaft brake?

The lower bar follows much the same angle as the driveshaft, plus it's close enough to offer a measure of protection from Rocks. It's 1.5" .375" wall DOM...it'll prolly support the whole truck a couple of times over. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: A-tron anti wrap bar pic\'s

Bill is working on making the bar length the customers choice at installation time...so yes it could be installed to clear a driveshaft brake by installing it farther rearwards. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gifLooks good Rene. I'm really looking forward to the test on the antiwrap set up. It looks like one heck of a piece of engineering. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Rene, I looked at the rest of the photos in your webshots album and was really impressed with the "bat cave" that you are working in. I'll bet it even has indoor plumbing and a recliner for engineering time.

It looks like the installation went just fine on the anti wrap but how is the new 6.2 doing? Have rounded up all of the parts that you needed? Good luck,

Very interested how it will do after you test it on the trail--right now from the photos looks like it will do the job. Awesome craftmanship on the setup /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: A-tron anti wrap bar pic\'s

I think I have most everything I need to finish re-assembling the truck and getting it running. I'm swapping my heater junk from the bulky and convoluted AC stuff to the simple non AC stuff out of the parts truck.

The firewall needs some modifications to do that plus all the wiring and heater controls. I'll be using the donor's complete underdash wiring and all the guage cluster stuff as well as the heater controls and vents and stuff...

About the only thing that will be somewhat a PITA to do will to build my exhaust system for the short term until I can afford to get a proper 3" single system built.

Oh yeah, we have two recliners over by the wood stove/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif My buddy jokes that we should add a bed so I could sleep there and save the gas driving back and forth...

That thing is sweet!!!! Bravo to 45acp and you!!!!

One thing that concerns me is the crossmemeber mounting below the frame. Any thoughts of fabbing a new cross memeber that bolts inside the frame rails?

Cant wait til tRusty is tickin! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Mike, The crossmember is 1.50 DOM x .375 wall thickness and can be mounted below, above or through the frame by drilling a 1.50 diam. hole and reinforcing it with the same plate of steel. Many guys have their T-case below the frame anyway but if you have a body lift you can mount this above the frame which is the way I will do mine and the shackle will then hang down instead of pointing up. It will work either way.
