I have an 89 Jimmy with a 241 T-case and don't have the owners manual. What I need to know is what they reccomend for the fluid in the T-case and how much. Also need to know how much tranny fluid they reccomend when service is done to a TH700r4. Also need the plug gap. Thanks.

for the t-case it just says to use automatic trands. fluid labeled dextron II and fill it up to the filler plug hole. For the tranny fluid, it doesnt say just to go by the dipstick reading, I think when I changed mine it was about 4 quarts?? I know there is alot in the torque converter already. I'm sure if you called a dealership and asked for the service dept. they would be able to tell you exactly. It doesnt say the spark plug gap either it says it is in the maintenance shcedule book that i dont have!!! Sorry thought I could help.

Wayne, look on the radiator support, under the hood. There should be a white sticker there with emissions info on it; you should be able to find the plug gap there.

A far as xfr case goes, about 4 quarts should do. My 208 took just over 4 qts, and I believe the 208 and 241 are almost identical.

T-case takes dex II or equiv... which means you can use Dex III (aka ATF). You'll probably need 5 or so qt's of atf for the trans and another 2 or 3 for the t-case... I'd just pick up a case rather then 8 qt's (get one extra for sure...).

I thought of that right after putting it on the post. Went out and looked and sure enough .35. I wasn't sure if the TBI 350 was differant then a carb. Thanks again.

Do yourself a favor and get a suction pump from the parts house for filling up the t-case. You will thank yourself. It works for differentials too.

You called? All the other replys sound good. Dextron III can take the place of ALL other G.M. (!!!) ATFs. All the way back to the days of the 'glides. Dex III is better stuff, I'd fill the trans with it, but the T-case fluid isn't all that important, not alot going on in it. Just keep it full of ATF, and forget about it.

Just keep it full! Those cast iron suckas need 80/90, Steve (THE K5 guy) says to use motor oil, if I remember right. That sounds O.K. to me too. Like I said, not alot going on in 'em.

    Twiztid, Fogit about it!, Ha!
