I'm finally ready to give myself my Christmas present. I'm gonna order my rear disc brake kit from TSM.

I've got to order rear 79-84 Caddy calipers for it, right? Where do I find the lowest priced calipers? Preferably with the lowest core charge possible, since I don't have any old calipers to send back.

I found calipers on Carparts.com. and I've got a 33% off. They are ($76 + $35 core) - 33% = $74.52 each. Do you think this is a good deal? I've also found Raybestos, Wagner, Napa. Any specific brand you'd recommend or stay away from?

    Thanks.

Did you try your local parts store? They might be able to help you. Most of their stuff is from domestic manufacture and you wont have to pay shipping. Of course you can can go to a Napa or Car Quest too, looking for low prices is good.

Those caddy calipers can be had to find used....The parking brake brackets can be a nice thing to have. If you are yarding it there are more cart that offer these calipers toronado and Riveria are two that I can remember off hand.

Another question about TSM kits. Do you need to have the backing plates (say on a 14 bolt) or does the kit come with it? Reason I am asking is I have a line on a couple of 14 bolts (one for me and one for mudhog we hope), but neither have backing plates or brakes.

No, you don't need the backing plates since TSM will supply them (caliper brackets). Check out the TSM article on http://www.off-road.com/chevy

That's too much, IMO, to pay for calipers. I got a set of Eldo rear calipers for $15 for both at 1/2 price day at my local pick-ur-part. They do not even need to be rebuilt.

Ken, are you serious? I'm very interested. Would you be so kind of saving a fellow Blazerer a few bucks? Could you buy them for me and ship them? I'll pay you. Are these already rebuilt?

Thanks for the tip. Couldn't find those cars though. They only had Seville, Cimarron, Fleetwood, and Eldorado.

Thanks fr8train, but I'm in Guatemala. Local shops over here don't stock many american car parts. Most of the vehicles here are cheap japanese, so that's what they carry. Even if I found a pair somewhere, I'm pretty sure they'd be overpriced.
