    ABS on a \'91??

What will have to be changed to the brake system in order to fit an older 14 bolt to an ABS equipped /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif. There is a ff 14 here for $250 from an '83 /forums/images/graemlins/burb.gif complete. I just can't remember the side effects for my truck. Please help. Thanks.

Umm, I don't think theres anything different... I know on my 96 there are no wires going to sensors or anything... Only thing I can think of would maybe be something mechanical in the drums but I don't think there is. I think the computer interprets it or something...

No problem at all. I switched mine 2 years ago ant the ABS does not care at all. Now and then the brakes will do the ABS shuffle but only after I come to a stop. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

On 91s i think the ABS is only on the front. The rear has no sensors.

I put an 80 14FF under my 91 sub and no sensors on the axle at all. Think it in the case/tranny or somewhere upstream, but not on axle. Have since gone rear disc and still no issues.

Well, ABS is only on the REAR for these models.
I know on my truck (with rear ABS) there are no electrical connections going to the rear axle. The ABS control module is that thing mounted in front of the brake booster.
About the swap...if you want your parking brake to bolt up nicely...you'll need a rear from the years '85-newer. Those have the two, different-length e-brake cables.
