meratic acid (i know i spelled it wrong but the jug's in the garage). anyway truck driver's said it worked and it does. spray or pour some on your funked up aluminum rim's, and watch the magic.8 to 10 second's at a time, you'll see it smoke because it's heating up the metal.then rinse it off and damn shiny new.BE CAREFULL THIS STUFF WILL STRIP ANYTHING < INCLUDING YOUR SKIN.*** keep away from kids. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gifto /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif

    Any hardware store.

Muriatic Acid = HCl, or Hydochloric. It's mainly used to clean concrete. Be CAREFUL

The muriatic acid essentially strips and removed the oxidized layer of the aluminum, leaving a fresh layer behind. However, over time it will oxidize again unless they are anodized, or sealed.

muriatic acid is highly diluted hydrochloric acid. about 20% hydrochloric. 100% HCl will dissolve concrete if let for long enough. muriatic acid is overrated for concrete though, it wouldn't get mold off my brick walkway mortar. i need pure HCl /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I've used tons of muritic acid cleaning brick facings and stuff for my Dad. He was a bricklayer and I worked weekends and after school with him form the age of 7 or so.

Muriatic works pretty good on fresh mortar, not so good on cured concrete. It sure burns skin real good/forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif so if you're going to use it to clean rims cover up really good and keep a running hose nearby. Definitely wear eye protection!

Will it work on rims that are Magnesium or other alloys different than aluminum? Also does it involve any scrubbing?

i don't think it would work on magnesium. but if my wife had magnesium rim's i'd try it and tell you guy's, that's why i tried her rims first.she doesn't know what i'm doing out side. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gifto /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif
