US actress Gwyneth Paltrow prefers British dinner talk
    Dec 02 11:24 AM US/Eastern

Oscar-winning US actress Gwyneth Paltrow feels dinner talk is far more interesting in her adopted homeland Britain than back in her native country.
"I love the English lifestyle, it's not as capitalistic as America. People don't talk about work and money, they talk about interesting things at dinner," she told "NS," the weekend magazine supplement of daily Portuguese newspaper Diario de Noticias on Saturday.

"I like living here because I don't fit into the bad side of American psychology. The British are much more intelligent and civilized than the Americans," the 34-year-old added.
Paltrow, who won a best actress Oscar for 1998's "Shakespeare in Love," lives in London with British band Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin whom she wed in 2003.
She said having US pop star Madonna, 48, who married British film director Guy Ritchie six years ago, nearby was another advantage to living in London. "She's like an older sister. Everything I have gone through, she went through ten times worse and ten times longer. She gives me good advice about how to say no and take care of myself," said Paltrow.

I'd like to sneak up to her in the loo and kick her in the knickers.

Yeah, it always cracks me up how it's totally acceptable for her (or Johnny Depp or you fill in the blanks) to make that kind of statement generalizing about "stupid", "boorish", "obnoxious" americans, but we are the ones vilified by other nations for "generalizing" THEM.

The older I get the more I wish we could go back to the pre-WWI isolationism. F*ck 'em all. I don't give a sh*t if they like us or not. At various times we have fed, protected, clothed and died for countless other countries, and what do we get? Shat upon, that's what.

Not to mention the fact that they became wealthy on our dollar! Ungrateful...

This is one reason I refuse to go pay for a movie... If I can avoid putting any cash in the pockets of her ilk, I will...

Nice! I quit for 2 weeks in November but relapsed when a friend (smoker) came to visit. My Mom is visiting for Xmas (smoker) so as soon as she's gone, I'm done for good. If I can get a few good months past me with no smokers staying at my house I think I can stick with it. It kills me to look up and see my daughter looking through the window watching me smoke.

    Good Luck man!

thanks man.. you too... ever need to, pm me.. Everytime you want one, just think of your daughter...

I'm psyched on it.. been waiting a couple months to do it.. i knew I'd need the time off from work to do it and I get 2 weeks off paid after x-mas...

gonna be hard, but I'm determined.. i'll use help, I've had a box of the patch around for a couple weeks now.. I know I can cuz I had stopped for about 8 months a few yrs ago...

3 months is that break point, thats when I hear the nicotine finally leaves your body...

Yeah, stress makes it bad.. And you've had enough of that for awhile..

I'm about 2 a day of the cheapie ultra-lights... I'm sure I'll pack on a few pounds, but thats ok.. A few long skate session will get that back off...
