My 99 K2500 (mid 90s body style) had some POS aftermarket tail gate that bent in 1/2 loading my quad. Does anyone make a gate equal in quality to factory? How much?

I doubt any aftermarket crap will be like the stock one.

Build one out of steel tubing and put some expanded steel over the frame for an even surface, will be strong yet let air flow through and give you some better mileage.

I'd say you're best off with a slat-vented 5th wheel gate. Good for mileage, visibility is great when you need to back up (over smaller vehicles, or just for parking). Find a used one for cheap. I used extra insurance claim money for some used fender trim (crap, I ended up taking it off all around) and the gate (a little rust, but no damage) for $200. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
