I have this oval box that is between the airfilter housing and the air intake hose, What is it for and do I need it or can I take it out and bypass it?

It's an air intake "silencer" or muffler if you will. No it's not needed as most 6.2's didn't have one. Mine ended up in the trash along time ago.

Real trucks don't have spark plugs!

You will notice a big difference in intake noise if you remove it. If you dont already have a K&n air filter, i highly recomend getting one. You will notice the difference big time in your diesel. I speak from exp.
