    I was thinking about moving up to Vancouver from Beaverton because of the difference in house prices. I was wondering how strict cops are about fenders/flares, mud flaps, bumper height, and mufflers?

    I recently moved (about 6 months ago) and havent had any trouble yet. I only have 3" and 32's (no mud flaps) though.

    Otherwise I have heard that they are fairly strict

    Up in the Seattle area I got a ticket once for no flaps. But 1 time in 5 years isn't bad in my book. My new rear bumper pretty much exposes 90-100% of the rear tires and I have not been pulled over for no flaps in the 6 months its been like that. I also have my rear plate mounted to my tailgate with no light, no problems there either...so far.

    The two things I was most concerned about on that list of laws were mufflers and bumper hight. My truck has an 8" lift and no rear bumper right now so I didn't know if I'd have issues with that right away.

    BTW, who in the Portland area could make a simple rectangular tube bumper inexpensively?

    Just you wait dood. I got nailed yesterday for no mud flaps, broken windsheild, and expired tags (exp. in Jan). DOH! /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

    He let me off with a fix it warning. My truck had been in the garage for so long that I completely forgot about the tags! /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif Tomorrow I head out to the DOL for new tags and to Wally-Mart for some flaps. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

    You'll get nailed soon. I promise... I found out why too. Apparently, the police have a profile for people who run/drive big o'l rigs like ours. I can't explain it all, but suffice it to say that we ARE watched because of WHAT we drive. That's straight from one of Vancouvers finest! /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

    When I got pulled over, I had my wife and son with me and we were just leaving Wendy's on the way to her parents. While we were sitting at a stop light (even had the turn signal on), the cop pulled up behind us, flipped on the lights, and blipped the siren. I had all my paperwork in order, so he let me off with a warning, but promised me that next time it'll be a minimum $300 ticket if I didn't have everything fixed.

    FYI...It's $100 per offense so for me it would have been;

    Broken windshield - $100
    No mud flaps - $100
    Expired tags - $100

    Cheaper to fix it... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

    Yep. They're coming off this weekend though. Gonna put a set of 35's back on fer awhile. They'll last until the spring anyhow when I can get a couple new swampers! /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

    The main reason he pulled me over was because of the expired tags. That's ok, I'll just make sure my flaps are easily removed! /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif
