    Hi,
where does the red wire that is located in the plug on top of the alternator go. My truck was altered before I got it and I'm not sure that it is where it belongs?

    Thank you

It goes to the same place as the other red wire on the alternator (that is not in the plug.)
They both go to the junction block, which connects directly to the battery.
This is fine for stock alternators.
If you go to a higher output one or a 1-wire alternator, you should really just run a thick wire from it to the battery pos+.

BTW, you didn't really ask this but I'll mention it anyway.
If you're not sure it's all hooked up right, test it.
Put your multimeter on volts dc. Connect the red and black probes directly to the battery posts. It should read about 12.3 or so with the engine NOT running.
Now, start it up. Do the same test, directly at the battery. Should read 14.6 or thereabouts.
