I was reading through an old 4x4 Power and it listed Dodge as having made an aluminum case NP205 in the 80's.
Anyone actually seen this beast or know about it?
More curious than anything.

I would guess someone at the mag made a mistake...but if they ever did make a 205 with an aluminum case I'd like to hear about it or see it too!

I've heard of them, but never seen one - apparently Rod Hall ran them on his old race trucks.

Yeah, I heard of those aluminum 205's on Dodges too. Just never have seen one either. [IMG]

They also said it was made only for something like one year. Dont remember which year, but thought they said something like the '85 year only.

That would be sweet to use in a doubler combo. Cut down some of the weight hanging out back there.

Why not ask Stephen? He might know of the year(s) possible for this. [IMG]

I would ask him but I don't have the cash for a doubler for the 203 & 205 I have now, let alone an aluminum one. It would be cool though.

Slip yoke ones have an aluminum tailshaft housing, don't they?

The case is still cast iron, though.
