This is kind of technical related question here, so that's why I didn't put it in off-topic. A few of us have been over to Chevytalk.com. I kill time over there waiting for more posts to appear on CK5. There's a guy over there named Igntionman. When someone asks him for his recommendation on setting an advance curve, he gets annoyed and spends a few sentences complaining on how he has to keep repeating this. Like somehow a website that he is volunteering information is wasting his time.

Anyways, there was a guy looking for advice on setting an advance curve. He had an HEI which, in stock form, gives 20 degrees mechanical advance. The generic rule is that 34-36 total timing is a good figure. He had his initial set at 14 degrees to achieve this. Everybody was having a coronary saying that was too high, when in reality its not. Most of us aren't going to go to the bother of reshaping the center plate when usually advancing the initial gets the numbers you want. Here is the post

I at least try to be nice and give people some leeway when setting a curve. There is no universal setup, and you have to experiment. Igntionman always gives the exact same setup through his complaints on repeating it. I guess I just want to blow off some stem because this guy is a real knot head. Hopefully Advance Autoparts will call back and I can get some money to buy a CK5 membership. At least people are decent over here. Excpet that tRustyK5, he's a bit shaddy. Haha. j/k /forums/images/icons/smirk.gif

Ha, ha, Ignitionman was banned from Chevelles.com because of his abrasive personality. He is actually a very knowledgeable and experienced Chevy guy. Definitely set in his ways though!

Haha, cool, I broke Igntionman. Well, better go do some damage control. His advice is good, but he is an a$$ should suffice for my last chevytalk post. People want to treated with a certain degree of dignity instead of being tromped on, called a fool, and a waste of his time. Oh, and I'll keep out the my sites better than yours crap because thats only going to make us look bad. I think we're good over here, right? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
