If these people have so much time on their hands they need to focus on more important issues like children that are abused, poverty, domestic violence etc...
Save the animals my @ss! How about Save the Children? *still shaking head*

I wouldn't have gone as far as putting it in the constitution but I personally get sick of science killing animals in the name of itself (this might protect them then).... I realize that they sometimes are using them to find stuff for us (cures for illness), but crap how many times are they just killing them for their own get off because they wanna see if their new shampoo burns when ingested. I live by UC Davis and lemme tell you I have known people who attended it and they stuff they share, good gosh I was appalled... sometimes the cost is too high for science if you ask me. I might be alone here but I do like that fact they at least are realizing that animals are more then crap to be killed and exploited by humans for our own benefit all the time.... I support finding a cure to help get rid of disease. I don't support killing crap just to get a science high off of it.... I might be alone here but that's how I feel....

I agree with you Steph. It's one thing to test on animals in order to save lives, but testing makeup and crap like that? "Oh, lets see if this poison will kill it!" *shaking head*
I don't agree with that at all...

Does Germany have the same rates of abuse poverty and domestic violence as the US? I thought they had pretty big welfare programs and socialized medicine. I don't know what they've got for domestic violence figures, I've got a feeling it's lower than ours but I've been wrong before /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

i agree with both of you science can go to far and needs to have limits, but my point was legally writting it in their rights?, come on i don't want to pay $50 a steak from Wal-Mart because they had to reimbersed the cow's familly for depriving him of his life.

Do you buy alot of German beef? In my area cruelty free beef is about 2.25x the cost of regular beef.

I hear what you are saying. Yes, when it comes to cosmetics and the like, no I don't agree with them testing on animals. I do think that using animals to test medicine is a neccesary evil. My problem is with how much time, energy and drive they put behind their cause. I just think there are much more important things in life that they could focus their anger at. These types of people are usually such extremists. I just wish they would get fired up at more important causes.

I'm not angry... I happen to think we exploit animals too much and can simply understand where their idea came from to include this in their countries constitution.... I'm for science helping folks but I am not for killing things because we can....

Not surprised that Germany officially puts the same value on human life as it does on rodent life. How many Jews did it --- ah, nevermind.

I think science should be allowed to test products on convicted rapist, murderers, and such when possible. I think that would curb crime a little, don't you? Then the great laboratories of the land could pay the jail system for use of it's inmates to help ease the tax burden they incur. Just a thought.
