She's installed and broken in. I haven't had a chance to drive her yet, but just the short trip home I could feel a big difference!

    I've got a mind like a . . . a . . . what's that thing called?

I think she means it was run in to break in the cam...2000 rpm for 30 minutes or so.

That is a very sweet mighty mouse! I almost wish my 350 would pack it in so I could justify a 383...and now that i've said that it prolly will pack it in just to pi$$ me off! [IMG]

Me and Nick were both pretty tired. 100+ degrees in the shop with no wind wears you out quicker than anything. We both went through a gallon and a half of water each day. We were sweating like horses! Anyway, the valves need to be lashed still and the detent cable was broken sometime during the installation so tranny fluid runs out when she's running. Still need to get some grommets for the breather and PCV valve. After that, she'll be running for good!
But, the breakin that I did was the 30min cam break in. I drover her home and could already notice the power that thing has even without it being tuned. There is a big hill by my house that normally made me give it quite a bit of gas to go up it. Well, "mighty mouse" (thanks Rene!) went up that thing like nothing. I hardly have to step on the gas to get it going. Before, she acted like a very heavy truck. Now (from what I can tell so far) she thinks she's a sports car [IMG].

As far as engine installation folleys go!
    1. Put the motor mounts in backwards AND had one defective one. We figured that one out after 3 hours of wrestling and wondering why the freaggin motor wouldn't line up.
    2. Forgot to intall the rod that drives the oil pump. Realized this after the motor was in. Tried to put it in thru the top. NOPE!!! Pull the pan and installed it and then reinstalled the intake manifold. @#%#&^
    3. When you forget about a plug on the side, antifreeze comes out qucikly. At least we didn't have to pull the motor. We were thinking we had a bad freeze plug at first.
    4. Do you know how high oil shoots up and out of the oil sending unit hole? Well, I do. It shoots about 7 feet in the air, and 20 feet across the shop covering everything and everybody in oil. We have good oil pressure!

The motor is a crate 383 from Fourstar motors. Retail on it is 2K. GM wants 3K for theirs and I think the Fourstar motor has as much torque and HP if not more than the GM crate 383. I'll keep ya'll posted.

    I've got a mind like a . . . a . . . what's that thing called?

Right on, Love that new Chevy orange and LMAO - oil shooting 20 ft.! was that while priming or when it fired?
Glad it's all together. Give it a couple 2000 and feel the power really come alive.
