Is not just for trucks ... how about for homes?

    $&*(@^$&*( :angry1:

somebody wired up the ceiling fan in my master bedroom with 6" sections of Romex crimp-nutted together... not even wire nuts, but CRIMPED ... and changing wire colors along the way. Red, black, it's all the same :doah:

    AAARGH.

Bought me a coupla rolls of new Romex, 2- and 3- wire, and gonna do this RIGHT. (Also putting UPB light switches and stuff, so that I can control any light from anywhere in the house or from the computer, across the Internet, whatever :D )

It never ceases to amaze me that someone will spend big bucks for a nice fan or light, and get cheap with the wiring...

You didn't need to tell me that -- I thought it was spendier than I remembered.

I got 14/2 and 14/3, as I'm only doing short runs to single fixtures ... but yeah, it wasn't cheap. ::shrug:: Ten bucks for a 25' roll of the 14/2, and thirty for a 50' of the 14/3.

Yeah I know what you guys mean, I work for an electrical company that does new wiring in houses and since last summer, around College Station prices have gone from about 20-25 bucks a role of 100 ft to nearly 90-100 bucks for the same role of 14/3. Just the regular stuff, this sucks, because of this, we can no longer work overtime.

Haha. After I moved into my first house, I discovered that someone before me did a similar job. The wiring for the ceiling fan in the living room (hung on an eyebolt off the beam in the vaulted ceiling) is run through a small hole in the sheetrock, about 6ft across the attic, spliced to a cheap extension cord, and plugged into one of those double plug deals that screw into the light socket. :doah: I just unplugged it and have never used it. Still haven't done it right. Waiting 'til I replace the 70's fan. :haha:

So here we have the kind of quality wiring I'm whining about. Three inch sections of wire twisted and TAPED together ... no wire nuts here, no no no. Those inch and a half long twisted parts were wrapped in black tape ... quite a lot of it, in fact :haha:

The end result is pictured, also ... you might be a geek if you have to put up a note of instructions on what switch does what!
