I've officially f'd up two comps in the period of a week. Has anyone heard of a desktophijacker? Apparently I have one. I have DLed 3 anti-virus programs with Norton being the best. Norton can identify it but can do nothing with it. I've started in safemode and run norton but still cant fix it. All it does is turn my background blue and tell me I have it, along with the annoying Norton popups saying that it is present but can't fix it.

Its sitting in my windows/system32/winent.dll file. I could just erase that file but am afraid it will mess up the computer more. Any suggestions?

Have you backed up? Do you know of FDISK?

No backups and I don't know FDISC.

I have half solved the problem. Ive erased all the paths that the virus used so I do have a background now with no pop ups anymore. But norton still detects the virus.

    Norton is crap................
Go here http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Do a free online virus scan. It will take a few minuts to load. it will tell you what you have and fix it if it can. If not it will tell you how to fix it if you click on any virus that shows up in the scan window

i was going to recomend that.

NORTON IS WORTHLESS.. all of the major viruses disable norton and render it worthless. get pccillin or macafee to fix all of your problems
